At Council Oak Periodontics and Dental Implants, we focus on providing customized care, and recommend the least invasive soft tissue treatment procedures that generate the best possible results for your smile and general health. As a practice specializing in periodontics, we collaborate with many general dentists and dental specialists in our community to deliver the highest standard of care in soft tissue treatment procedures to you and your family.
Our highly skilled periodontist has advanced training in both laser and conventional soft tissue treatment services, including frenectomy and gingivectomy procedures. While specialized periodontal soft tissue treatments improve your oral health, they often restore function and appearance to the smile in many cases.
A frenectomy is a simple soft tissue treatment performed to alleviate a “lip-tie” or “tongue-tie.” A frenum is the fold of tissue that attaches the upper lip to the gums and the tongue to the floor of the mouth. In some cases this attachment is too short or tight, and may prevent proper eating and speaking abilities. With a minimally invasive frenectomy, we can release this tissue to improve oral health, function and appearance.
You may need a gingivectomy procedure if your have gum tissue that is infected, overgrown, bulbous or in excess. A gingivectomy is a soft tissue treatment performed to gently remove gum tissue from around one or more teeth.
